DX51D-CR is DX51D supplied in the CR condition — uncoated cold-rolled substrate for thin gauges (0.3–2 mm) and for feeding the hot-dip line; brighter surface, tighter thickness tolerance. DX51D-CR has a yield strength of 270 MPa (39.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 360 MPa (52.2 ksi) — weaker than 91% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 30% and the elastic modulus is 205 GPa (29.7 Msi). DX51D-CR has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³), heavier than 56% of steel grades. It melts at 1,495°C (2,723 °F). HR is the default condition FabDigit quotes; CR is available on request or by drawing note.

Is DX51D easy to machine?

Very easy but gummy; use sharp tools, generous rake and clean punch/die clearance (~6–8 % of thickness) to avoid burrs and zinc pickup — laser and plasma cutting need edge touch-up.
