Working with 6110-O
Is 6110 easy to machine?
Machines very well in T6 with polished-flute carbide, high speed and flood coolant or MQL; sharp rake and chip breakers avoid the gummy chips seen in T4.
Can 6110 be welded?
MIG/TIG weldable with 4043 (crack resistance) or 5356 (strength/anodizing match); HAZ drops to near-T4 strength, so re-solution + age or design joints away from peak stress.
Can 6110 be formed, bent or molded?
Extrudes and hot-forges readily above 400 °C; do sheet/tube bending in O or T4 and age afterwards — T6 has limited bend radius and springback is high.
